Meet Mark Mease
Welcome to the official campaign website for Mark Mease, candidate for Haywood County Sheriff. With 24 years of experience in law enforcement, a large part of that in narcotics investigation and supervision.
My vision is community-oriented and to build relationships with entities the Sheriff’s office deals with on a day-to-day basis. I am a lifelong resident of Haywood County, raised in the Bethel Community. I have a heart for the people of Haywood County and have spent a large portion of my life in public service.
- Advanced law enforcement certification, and have received US Prosecutors Awards and Drug Case Awards.
- Served 21 years with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, where I worked in patrol, then transferred to investigations, where I worked as a narcotics investigator for 11 years before moving to the Criminal Suppression Unit as a sergeant.
- Promoted to Patrol/Narcotics Lieutenant and subsequently to Captain over Patrol, the position from which I retired.
- After retirement, I was recruited to work as a Narcotics investigator for the Cherokee Indian Police Department—a position I currently hold.
- Received the United States Attorney’s Office from the Eastern District of Virginia Public Service Award in 2015.
- Recognized around mid‑2022 in federal-level awards alongside local sheriffs and federal agencies, for outstanding work in narcotics investigations (Operation COVID CHAOS)
